Setup - Deployment Overview
The RMS Field Gateway v1.0 is delivered pre-imaged and pre-configured.
The operating system, Direwolf, and LinBPQ are installed and aligned for stable VHF/UHF RMS Gateway operation.
Deployment consists primarily of entering your station-specific information and connecting the unit to your radio and network.
Most installations are completed in approximately 30 minutes.
What You Will Configure
During setup, you will enter:
Sysop callsign and credentials
RMS Gateway registration details
Station location information
Audio interface selection
Network connection method
A step-by-step Setup & Operations Manual guides this process clearly.
No command-line experience is required for normal deployment.
Hardware Requirements
To place the gateway into service, you will need:
VHF or UHF FM transceiver (fixed frequency recommended)
USB audio interface (e.g., DigiRig, DigiRig Lite, Signalink)
PTT interface or VOX configuration
Internet connection (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or LTE hotspot)
Regulated 5V power supply or power bank
The gateway operates headless — no monitor, keyboard, or mouse required.
Network Connectivity
The unit supports:
Ethernet connection
Wi-Fi connection
LTE hotspot operation
If internet connectivity is interrupted, the gateway will:
Attempt automatic reconnection
